So I’m a little late on the ball, I apologize. But still, what better time to write and read a review about what is arguably the best show on television then right now? Probably two days ago when I could clearly remember the episode. Spoilers. Duh.

Color us confused, perplexed and astonished.  After flipping through the channels the remote ineveitably landed on CNN.  Expecting a audio and visual barrage of superflous graphics and a stately, urgent music bed we’re met with no music, no graphics.  Just 4 guys partaking in an intelligent discussion on Afghanistan.  In 5 minutes, no mass generalization or completely obvious statement has been uttered.  It’s a really intelligent discussion.  No one is raising their voice, waving their hands wildly and no inane comments.  What is this doing on CNN?  On cable in general?  What the hell is this doing on TV?  I feel like I’m watching C-SPAN, but with better production values.

We’re watching Fareed Zakaria GPS, a lame name that cries for overproduced graphics and soundtrack.  Granted, we’ve only seen 5 minutes (not including the end bit, were reader-suggested famous quotes were played), but does CNN still have some integrity left?  HOLY SHIT! They just recommend a book?  To read?  And learn?  About society?  What the hell is going on?  Is this Bizaro CNN?  Make it stop — WE CAN’T TAKE THIS!

Oh thank god, the overproduced and melodramatic “Special Investigations” is on now.  The world returns to normal.

What the frak just happened? We’re not sure what’s gonna happen next — or what the frak to say. We’ll try anyway. After the jump, Drew’s spoiler-heavy review. Sean’s take will come later. For the love of the Gods — don’t look if you haven’t watched it yet. Thanks to the awesome folks as the GalacticaBBS for taking really awesome screen grabs, like the above.

Excuse my exuberance, but, uh, OMG BSG!!!1!1  We even pulled out the multi-medium for the occassion!  After 6 months of rewatching DVDs countless times, our biggest reason to why posting will increase on Fridays returns, and we finally get to see the beginning of the end.  Herc over at AICN (Partial Bigot Alert! We despise them) has seen the episode and the screener promises we learn the identity of the Fifth Cylon and I believe him because our DVR listing promises the same thing.  SciFi has a marathon going on all day, and even though we own all the DVDs, we’re watching.  Watch! Tonight! 10PM! Sci-Fi Channel!  Check your local listings for more!

While we knew that Pushing Daisies had fallen towards the wayside (it was, perhaps, inevitable) the real punch in the gut came Wednesday night at 8, when there was no Ned, Chuck, Emerson Cod or Olive on ABC. Instead they reaired Scrubs, which is hard to get mad at them for since we love Scrubs and missed the premiere, but still — what the hell ABC, what the hell? There are only three episodes left, including a finale reworked to bring us some closure (it’s titled Kerplunk and one hopes that the childhood game makes an appearance) just dump and burn, right? Not so much. This just means we’ll have to wait for the summer, the traditional dump and burn season, right? Not so much. Matt Aussiello breaks our hearts. (more…)

You might notice an odd phenomenon the next few months on Friday nights: frequent posting. Instead of enjoying a full-body, flavorful beer or relaxing with a nice scotch, we’re forsaking a Friday night social life. We’ll probably be throwing a few posts here or there to kill sometime. Not because we love you or are dedicated to our small little blog, but because there is gonna be a lot of good TV on. Here are the four reasons that our posting numbers may go up (or be nonexistent) on Friday nights, and your editors’ take (ha! Editors make us sound professional). (more…)
